Manuel Castro Glass

Manuel Castro’s work reflects his devotion to the craft and his pursuit of what is challenging. The colors and patterns that Castro applies come from the visuals the Pacific Northwest offers and from the multicolored fabrics of Central America where he was raised. Over the course of his over 20 year career Manuel has used the discipline of Venetian techniques combined with the current Pacific Northwest glass movement in an effort to embrace the craft. He has been a guest artist at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma and exhibited his work at galleries across the northwest. As a journeyman, he has worked for premiere glass studios and artists including, Boyd Sugiki, Lino Tagliapietra, Chilhuly Gardens and Glass Mobile Hotshop, Manifesto Studios and many more.Manuel creates sculptural and functional blown glass objects, custom design and installation and art for collectors. Castro is a teaching artist and teaches advanced glassblowing at Pratt Fine Arts Center, Seattle Glassblowing and Schack Art Center in Everett. Manuel has built a glass hotshop studio at his house in north seattle where he creates his work.
