I come from a long line of both hobbyist and professional artists and I’ve been lucky enough to have a fairly comprehensive, albeit eclectic, art education and experience. I’ve found so much joy in so many methods of expression that I’ve refused to confine myself to one medium, and am just as happy working in miniature as I am on massive projects. One of the consistencies that have held true through all of my pieces, however, is the theme. Jokingly I’ve always described my art as “Puget Sound chic,” as my preferred subjects are local fauna, my most popular being backyard birds, herons, dungeness crabs, salmon, and the great pacific octopus. Most of my pen and inks, water colors, dyed silks, acrylics, and murals celebrate the animals I grew up exploring at the beaches here. My current project has been “Washington’s B Team,” a collection that celebrates the Northwest's less popularly depicted citizens. Orcas, herons, and salmon may rank as some of Washington’s “Starters,” but I'm having a blast highlighting some of our local under appreciated benchwarmers like our native banana slugs, king fishers, rockfish, and sea lions.
